Psychotic Disorders

Psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, are characterized by hallucinations and/or delusions as a primary feature of the illness. Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by positive symptoms (e.g., delusions and hallucinations), negative symptoms (e.g., flattened affect and social withdrawal) and cognitive deficits. Current therapies primarily treat the positive symptoms, and to a lesser extent the negative symptoms, with varying degrees of success. Yet there remains an unmet medical need with regard to all aspects of the illness. Avera is currently developing AV965 for Cognitive Impairment Associated with Schizophrenia.
